Juggling more than just a busy schedule

I've had an idea for a program that I was waiting until springtime for.  Now that it's April, I thought it might be time to start planning for it (even though a recent snowstorm has made it seem more like the start of winter than the start of spring).

My friend Megan is on the Jugglers' Society, and I have emailed her asking if the Jugglers' Society would like to come teach residents how to juggle.  Personally, I've wanted to learn how to juggle for a long time, so it sounds like a lot of fun.  Ideally, the program will happen on a Saturday afternoon so that we can be outside on the Stewart quad.  Right now, I'd like to set it for April 16th if it works out well for our guest jugglers.

On top of this, I'm trying to think of a good program for this Friday night.  We'll see what I can come up with in the next two days...

  1. This is such a cool idea! I would love to learn how to juggle, I've always thought that it was so interesting to watch. I can remember learning how to juggle scarves in phys. ed. class in elementary and middle school, but I never quite mastered that enough in order to be able to move onto anything more extreme. I think that this is a good idea to give students a break from studying to do something fun and active outdoors, especially at this time of year when the school year is wrapping up and everyone is starting to stress out and spend all of their time cooped up in the library. How did it end up working out?

  2. It went really well! The Jugglers Society members who came were really talented. It was pretty hard, but at the end of it we got the basics down!

  3. My principles of coaching professor used juggling as an example of how it can be a simple task for some and a complex task for others. We by chance had two people in the class that could juggle well come up and juggle for the class and then we had two people who didn't know how to come up. I kept thinking that the few times I've tried juggling, it looked exactly like what they were trying to do. It isn't easy but it would definitely be something I'd be willing to but a bit of time into and learn. I have no idea how people are able to juggle flaming torches and knives...scary
